Rivers United technical adviser, Stanley Eguma has expressed his team’s readiness for the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final tie against USM Alger.
The Pride of Rivers will be in action against the Algerian side in the first leg at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Sunday (today).
Eguma revealed that his team wants to better their last season’s performance in the competition.
He assured that they have adequately prepared for the challenges ahead.
“We are ready, we know it’s a big stage of the competition, the quarter-final is a big stage considering the fact that we are playing against the defending champions,” he said in a pre-match press conference.
“USMA is a big team. We respect them. They have played a lot of matches in the competition and I believe they are going to give us a big match today.
“We are ready and want to give our best because Nigerian is at stake.
“Last year was our best shot in this competition and it’s our ambition to go beyond the quarter finals, we know the threat USMA poses, so if we are to achieve our ambition, we have to beat them.
“We know it’s going to be difficult but we want to assure you that we are ready to surmount the task.”
